MLK Viaduct Replacement

Portland, Oregon: Replacement of the aging 1,600 foot long MLK Viaduct in downtown Portland, with an iconic new structure.

Project Details

The MLK Viaduct spans over active railroad tracks as well as several Portland city streets on this project. The new viaduct includes several types of bridges, including CIP Box Girder and Precast Girder. It also involved a piling supported temporary bridge to maintain two lanes of traffic in each direction throughout construction. Other key features include extensive pile driving, railroad coordination and very tight working conditions with local businesses literally just a few feet away from the work.
