Rocky Reach Dam Fish Bypass Facility

Project Details

Under one prime contract and one subcontract, MJK constructed the cast-in-place concrete flume for the 4,600 foot long juvenile fish bypass and installed the piling for the juvenile fish detention facility in the forebay of the Dam.
Constructing the flume required demolition of the Rocky Reach forebay wall, and was completed using a work platform attached to the face of the dam.
Installing support piling for the detention facility required up to 48” diameter casings to be drilled into the bedrock for containment purposes using an oscillating driller operation.

Steel pipe for the fish bypass was set over the Columbia river using multiple crane picks and work bridge.

All work was completed under dynamic, fluctuating forebay water conditions utilizing barges.
